Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Seven Hills: Amenities
- Continued next layer of fill placement and breaking of rock boulders (done with Deere 350GL).
- Upon arrival, the contractor was engaged in cutting soil from the roadway using a Komatsu PC 360LC and from the west of the job site. Fill was being transported with two tandem dumps on tennis Court and parking areas, while dozing was performed with a Komatsu D85EX for the next layer and compaction with CAT563E.
- The next layer of fill placement was started on the tennis court & parking areas.
- Rock and boulders found in the backfill necessitated the use of proof-rolling to verify stability following compaction.
- Compaction testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear density gauge, along with general probing using a 3/8″ diameter probe rod for the clubhouse area (as well as some proof-rolling).
- Density test results indicate that compacted materials did meet the project requirement of 95% of the maximum dry density obtained by a Standard Proctor ASTM 698.
