Observations/Finding
This letter provides the final inspection summary for the monument installed at Sterlington Development. Throughout the monument’s construction, representatives from AS Engineering and Consulting, LLC. conducted multiple site visits to monitor quality assurance, ensuring compliance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. Testing was also performed as per project requirements. Below is a summary of our observations and findings:
Observations and Findings
- Footing Evaluation
- The footing was assessed through visual inspection, hand probing, and dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) testing.
- The evaluation revealed well-compacted fill soils underlain by residual soils, capable of supporting the structure with an allowable soil bearing pressure of 2,000 psf.
- Reinforcing Steel for Footings and Slab
- Visual inspection confirmed compliance with approved project specifications.
- Dowels were installed at the planned spacings, and rebar standees were appropriately used to ensure proper cover.
- Lap lengths for the rebar appeared adequate for their size. Supporting photographs are attached for reference.
- CMU Block Installation
- The block installation was carried out in general accordance with industry practices and project specifications.
- Following installation, the hollow sections of the blocks were filled with grout as recommended in the project drawings.
- Efforts were made to eliminate voids and achieve complete grout coverage.
