Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
The above mentioned AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative, visited the Cottages at Villa Rica site to conduct quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were made on-site:
Drilling Data:
The drilling team continued from where they had stopped the previous day, progressing from Row 12 to Row 16. A total of 14 holes were drilled during today’s operations, located south of Lots 43 and 44, extending towards the pump station on the west. Drilling of this area was performed in three rows approximately 6 feet apart and approximately 8 feet between each drilling location within each row.
Later in the day, previously drilled locations were checked for any possible cave-in situations. This was suspected due to groundwater encountered during drilling at these locations. Upon inspection, several locations were noted to have caved-in and may need to be cleaned out prior to blasting. Additionally, the driller mentioned PVC casing may be used in these areas to aid charging and blasting.
Further inspection of today’s newly drilled holes revealed similar conditions, with the holes caving-in due to groundwater. Due to repeated encounter of groundwater, the drilling team decided to halt further operations for the day to avoid further complications.
The subcontractor will reassess the situation and determine the next course of action in the upcoming days.
