Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering & Consulting (ASEC) representative arrived on site to observe field activities. The following tasks were performed:

Observed the placement of fill/grading for Lots #26 through #31 today, spread by a 61Pxi Komatsu Bulldozer and compacted using a 815F CAT. Cutting continued from the adjacent roadway using a 349E CAT Excavator and hauling with two 745C dump trucks.  Compaction tests were performed using a nuclear density gauge.  General probing and proof-rolling were also performed to verify stability.

Overall, the results of density testing did not meet fill compaction met the project and ASTM requirements due to excessive moisture contents.  The contractor was recommended to scarify, aerate and recompact.  Results are attached in a separate report.
