Observations/Finding

Our AS Engineering & Consulting (ASEC) representative arrived on site to observe field activities. The following tasks were performed:

Observed the placement of fill/grading for Lots #48 and #49 today, spread by a 61Pxi Komatsu Bulldozer and compacted using a 815F CAT. Cutting continued from the adjacent roadway using a 349E CAT Excavator and hauling with two 745C dump trucks.  Compaction tests were performed using a nuclear density gauge.  General probing and proof-rolling were also performed to verify stability.

Overall, the results of density testing found that fill compaction was just shy of project specifications.  Reduction in moisture content and recompaction were required.  A proof-roll of the area found no severe pumping/rutting of surficial soils.  Results are attached in a separate report.
