Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our representative was on site as requested by the contractor (WILBANKS) for the observation/testing of fill placed in approximately 8in lifts for the approximate location of Lots #33, #34, #120, #121, #122, #123, #124 and #125. Lot #33 had topsoil materials bladed off then was proof-rolled. A soft, organic zone was encountered during proof-rolling and was excavated to a depth of approximately 7 feet and an area of approximately 10 feet by 10 feet in width. It was recommended to the contractor to place fill in 6-to-8-inch lifts with compaction testing performed approximately every 2 feet of the excavation which is approximately located in the bottom left corner of Lot #33 (according to phase 1 plans). Compaction tests were performed on fill placed over the above lots and the contractor was recommended to let wet borrow fill materials to aerate to bring these materials near optimum moisture percentage. Other failing testing was relayed to the contractor to recompact the area and retest. The contractor stopped the fill midafternoon to prep the site for anticipated rain over the weekend.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
