Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor (Wilbanks) for the observation/testing of the placement of soils.
The contractor previously placed fill around SSMH 1.1 to SSMH4.0. This fill was not tested due to technician not being on site. The technician requested the contractor to excavate 3 different tests pits approximately 4 ft deep along the pipeline from SSMH1.1 to SSMH4.0. The tests showed low compaction ranging 90% to 94%. Our representative performed DCP testing and reported the results to Clyde Smith with ASEC. We recommended to the contractor to remove at least 4 feet of the fill and replace and recompact in 8-to-12-inch lifts. This will be completed at a later date.
The contractor continued moving soils to Lot #112, placing one lift approximately 8in thick. Density testing was performed on Lots #15 through #20, #30 and #40. Compaction results met job specifications.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
