Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and material submittals. The following observations were made on site during the day:

• Excavation and backfilling activities were carried out during the day, specifically on Lots 103 through 110.

• Excavation was performed using a CAT 349E excavator, and hauling operations were conducted using heavy-duty all-road trucks.

• A Komatsu 61Pxi bulldozer was utilized for spreading the backfill material.

• Compaction was performed using a sheepsfoot roller.

• The first lift of backfill was placed and compacted over the bridge area within Lots 103–110.

• Due to this, nuclear gauge testing was not conducted on the first lift. Testing will be performed during the placement of the second lift.

• However, manual probing throughout the area indicated that compaction of the first lift is satisfactory and appears to meet project requirements.
