Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor (Wilbanks) for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The technician observed the contractor place 1 lift approximately 8 inches in thickness over Lots #2 through #15 to elevation (approx. 760 -762). The technician will go through with contractor to record finial grades of each lot at a future date.
The contractor continued work on BA4 to BA9 with a reported elevation of 751.7.
The contractor continued work on pipeline from SSMH3.0 to SSMH3.1 with a reported undercut of 1 foot, bedded with No. 57 stone to elevation. Invert elevation was reported to be 753. *No testing was requested/conducted on the backfill placed over this pipeline.
Contractor began excavation of topsoil from lot #1. The contractor asked the technician to check the bottom of the excavated area in lot #1. There were signs of low compaction. The contractor reported approx. 10ft of fill will be placed in this area. The technician recommended a bridge lift of approx. 2ft before compaction. There was riprap present in bottom of excavation before bridge lift was placed.
The contractor continued placing fill on lots #127 through #133. The contractor placed lifts approximately 8 to 12 inches thick to the elevation of 771. The technician density tested these areas and provided all test results to the contractor. The technician recommended to allow ample time to dry to near optimum moisture content before compacting again.
