Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor (Wilbanks) for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor placed a lift of soil, approximately 8 to 12 inches in thickness, across the location of Lots #64 through #69. The contractor compacted the lots via a sheep-foot roller and also rolled in the lift with a loaded truck. Our representative density tested around this area. Proof-rolling results showed no signs of pumping or rutting. The contractor continued placing topsoil along the greenspace located on the edge of these lots.
The contractor began excavation of Lots #148 through #152. These lots were cut to an approximate elevation of 776.25. A proof-roll was performed on these lots. There were two areas (one on Lot #150 and one on Lot #152) that showed signs of pumping and/or deflection. The contractor cut out approximately 15ft x 20ft x 3.5ft for each soft spot. The technician generally probed these areas during the excavation. The contractor then placed suitable material back in the excavations, in two lifts, that were compacted via loaded off road dump truck. The technician generally probed the fill being placed back in the excavation and found the area to be stable.
