Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative to provide quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawings/specifications, applicable codes, and material submittals. The following observations were made on site during the day:
-
Excavation (down cutting) and backfilling activities were carried out throughout the day.
-
Excavation was performed within the designated cut area using a CAT 349E excavator.
-
On-site hauling was executed using two off-road trucks, while additional fill material was imported from an external source using multiple dump trucks.
-
Backfilling was performed in Lots 51–52 and Lots 38–47.
-
A Komatsu 61Pxi bulldozer was used to spread the backfill material, and a sheepsfoot roller was employed to compact each lift.
-
Nuclear gauge compaction tests were performed with the following results:
-
Lots 38–47 showed satisfactory compaction results, meeting the project specifications (Pass).
-
Lots 50–52, which were backfilled up to subgrade elevation, exhibited compaction values below 98%, indicating a failure. The grading contractor was informed to address this issue, and retesting is scheduled for the following day.
-
-
Additionally, backfilling and compaction were completed for the storm drain line between structures A2 and A3.
-
However, the nuclear gauge test in this area yielded a failing result. The utility subcontractor was notified to perform corrective measures, and the area will be re-tested upon completion of the repairs.
-
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
