Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, a representative from AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) visited the site to perform quality control inspections and testing services. Visual observation techniques were used to verify compliance with project drawings, specifications, applicable codes, and approved material submittals.
Our ASEC representative performed a visual inspection for the curb in front of Lot #209 and Lot #302. It was observed that the subgrade soils beneath the curb were soft. As a corrective measure, it was recommended to undercut the area 2 feet and replace with graded aggregate base (GAB). The contractor followed this recommendation and used a hand compactor to compact the GAB material. In addition, approximately 500 feet of asphalt adjacent to the curb was identified as needing repair. It was recommended that this insufficient section be sawcut, the subbase repaired, and then re-asphalted.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
