Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative arrived on site to observe the placement of 19mmSP asphalt mix for the roadway.  Back-scatter density testing was performed on newly placed asphalt following compaction with a smooth-drummed roller.  A total of fifteen (15) density tests were taken.  The results are stated below:

Test Section #1:  139.1 pcf (left), 137.9 pcf (center), 136.5 pcf (right) [location northwest]

Test Section #2:  139.7 pcf (left), 134.8 pcf (center), 145.0 pcf (right) [location southwest]

Test Section #3:  140.7 pcf (left), 135.9 pcf (center), 134.3 pcf (right) [location southeast]

Test Section #4:  138.5 pcf (left), 133.9 pcf (center), 130.3 pcf (right) [location east]

Test Section #5:  142.3 pcf (left), 140.2 pcf (center), 141.9 pcf (right) [location north]

Note:  left, center, right = side of lane tested as oriented to direction of placement.
