Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Kimball Bridge: Subgrade Inspection for Lots #10, 11, 12, 13, 14.
Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) tests were performed on the four corners of Lots #10, 11, 12, 13. House construction was already beginning at Lot #14. Based on visual classification, the soils across the lots were predominantly red silty sands, with some clays observed in some areas. DCP test results in all locations exceeded 8 blows, meeting the minimum requirement for a soil bearing pressure of 2000 psf. In Lot #13, shallow rock and hard clay were encountered at depths of 1–2 feet, preventing penetration beyond 4 feet in certain areas; however, the blow counts exceeded 9. Overall, the results indicated that the tested lots are suitable for the job specification of 2000 psf soil bearing pressure.
