Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Construction Activities Monitoring Report
On the mentioned date, the AS Engineering and Consulting LLC engineering representative was responsible for monitoring the construction activities in progress at the project site. The work took place from 13:30 AM until 18:00 PM and included the following activities:
-
Embankment work in Lots #7–12
-
Drilling of holes between Manhole 9 and 9A was performed
1. Embankment Work
Embankment activities were ongoing in Lots #7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 and the layer depths were -9, -13, -15.5, -14.5, -10 and -7.5 feet accordingly of the design level of the lots. The rock sizes varied, with some boulders exceeding 2 feet in height. The ASEC technician recommended breaking down the oversized boulders into smaller, acceptable sizes as per specifications for stone pitching work. It was further advised to fill voids with fine-grained material and compact each lift using a Caterpillar 815K roller and do not use boulder fill within 4-foot depth of the footings.
A proof-roll test was performed using available dump trucks. It was observed that the no severe deflection/pumping was observed.
2. Drilling between Manhole 9 and 9A
The drilling crew work between manhole 9 and 9A, drilling holes spaced approximately 7 ft x 7 ft apart, continuing until 05:00 PM. The drilling results were as follows:
-
Drill #1: 15 holes, depth 17 ft, rock encountered at 4–8 ft plus 20 holes at the depth of 18 ft rock encountered at 3-8 ft
-
Drill #2: 30 holes, depth 17 ft, rock encountered at 6–9 ft plus 10 holes at the depth of 18 feet, rock encountered8-10 ft
-
Drill #3: 6 holes, depth 14 ft, rock encountered at 5-7 ft
4. Equipment in Operation
The following machinery was used for the day’s activities:
-
1 Dozer
-
2 Rollers
-
3 Trucks
-
2 Excavators
-
3 Drill machines
The work progressed smoothly, and all activities were completed without major issues.
