Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

  • The placement and compaction of fill for Lots #12 through #21, as well as for the stormwater trench between MHA11 and MHA12 and MHA12.1, continued on this day. Upon arrival, the ASEC representative observed active work in progress, with fill being placed in 1-foot lifts. Compaction was carried out using a CP56B sheepsfoot roller (15-ton) for the lots and a 12-ton padfoot roller along with a trench compactor for the stormwater trench. Compaction testing was performed using a Troxler nuclear density gauge, supplemented by general probing with a 3/8″ diameter probe rod. The density test results indicated that most of the compacted materials met the project requirement of achieving at least 95% of the maximum dry density, in accordance with ASTM D698 (Standard Proctor).

Note: Test #1 between MHA11 and MHA12 did not meet the requirement of achieving at least 95% due to the moisture contents being too high. It was recommended to scarify, aerate and recompact these wet soils.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
