Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. Upon arrival to the site, it was visually very dry with a large amount of dust in the air from vehicles and equipment. Density testing was performed along SSMH 3A – SSMH 4A. There appeared to be multiple types of soil being used for backfilling along this pipeline. Density test results were provided to the contractor. In areas that tests were failing, it was recommended to recompact again before proceeding with backfilling. The soil appears to be too dry, and no water truck is present on site.
Density testing was performed on the final grade of Lots #6, #9, and #10. Fill being used on these lots appear to have a large amount of organics present. Our representative spoke with the contractor and recommended to not use that fill in structural areas. It was also recommended to have a water truck on site for safety and to wet the fill when it is too dry. A field proctor was performed on the fill used for Lots #6 through #10. Field proctor results were given to ASEC representative Safi Mohammad.
