Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill as well as observation of drilling.
The contractor continued placing approximately 2-foot lifts of blasted rock material in the roadway leading up to the bridge. This blasted rock material appears to be breaking down as the contractor uses the sheep-foot roller for compaction. Blasted rocks are approximately 1ft to 2ft in diameter. The contractor places a 1 ft lift of finer material over the blasted material to help fill voids. There was minimal to no pumping/rutting observed as loaded off road trucks roll over the lifts.
The pipe crew finished backfilling of SSMH9a pipeline. Density testing was performed at -2ft and showed failing density tests. The pipe crew will continue to re-compact this area and address it again after rain fall to help with moisture content.
The drillers drilled in a 7×7 grid pattern between SSMH11 and SSMH12. Drilling consisted of 12 holes at 18ft, 6 holes at 20ft, 15 holes at 22ft, and 9 holes at 23ft. Drill logs will be included in the photos below.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
