Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site as requested by the contractor for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill as well as observation of drilling.
The contractor continued placing blasted rock material in the roadway leading up to the bridge. The blasted rock material consisted of rocks approximately 1 ft to 2 ft in diameter. These rocks appear to be breaking down as the contractor uses a sheep-foot roller to compact. The contractor also placed approximately 1 ft of finer material over these lifts to help fill voids. No severe pumping/rutting were observed as loaded off road trucks rolled over the lifts.
The pipe crew appeared to be placing larger blast rock in the green space areas. They also had a survey crew actively placing stakes for what appeared to be storm lines.
Drillers were still drilling in between SSMH11 to SSMH12. They drilled in a 7×7 grid pattern. They split hole locations between 3 drill rigs due to the slope they were drilling on. This was for safety reasons. Drilling consisted of 82 holes at 18ft, 44 holes at 20ft, 151 holes at 22ft, 35 holes at 23ft, and 4 holes at 24ft. Drill logs are included in photos.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
