Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued placing blast rock material in the roadway leading up to the bridge. The blast rock material fill consists of rocks approximately 1 ft to 2 ft in diameter. Due to this, lifts were being placed at approximately 2 ft in thickness. As the contractor rolled in the lifts with a sheep-foot roller, it appeared to be breaking down the larger rocks. The contractor was also spreading approximately 1 ft thick lifts of finer materials over top of the blast rock material to help fill voids. Our ASEC representative watched loaded off road trucks and they rolled over the lifts to watch for any signs of instability. No severe pumping/rutting were present.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
