Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The wall contractors excavated an approximately 2 ft x 2.5 ft trench for the footing of the retaining wall for the pond area. This footing was inspected by Mr. Kisan Patel. Along the left side of the footing, the contractors undercut approximately 2 ft due to the ground being saturated and soft. In some areas of the trench, natural ground water began infiltrating. Mr. Patel informed the contractor to replace the excavated fill with structural fill. Our representative performed density testing on the backfill lifts placed along the retaining wall. Density test results showed insufficient compaction due to the high moisture content of the backfill. The contractor was informed of the test results and is actively rolling the lifts with a walk behind sheep-foot roller.
The wall contractor was held up on continuing the wall due to waiting for the pipe crew to set their boxes. The pipe crew was not on site at this time.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
