Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative with AS engineering and consultant was on site to observe proof-rolling of subgrade soils for the rear roadway using a tandem-axled dump truck loaded with 18 tons of stone. The proof-roll was also observed with members from Paulding Co. and Baldwin Paving. Most areas observed appeared stable under traffic except isolated areas listed below. The writer also observed – per plans and specifications – the depth for required base stone and asphalt which requires 9″. The depths observed varied from 7.5″ to 9.25″; some high areas were marked for additional clip to obtain sufficient depth. Also, isolated areas with movement were marked and recommended to remove 4″ to 6″ to remove saturated wet soils and replace with additional base stone. Note: areas of roadway subgrade soils that were previously observed and base stone placed displayed severe wash silt damage due to recent rains. Some areas showed silt wash and/or rutting under traffic. These areas will require additional reobservation. See attached pictures below.

Recommended repair areas: 1.14′ x 28′ x 6″, 2.20′ x 50′ x 4″, 3. 10′ x 20′ x 6″, 4. 12′ x 13′ x 6″, and 5. 17′ x 13′ x4″.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
