Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor continued placing lifts approximately 6 to 8 inches in thickness across the commercial lot area located around the front detention pond. The lifts were compacted using an 815 sheep’s foot roller. ASEC watched as loaded dump trucks rolled across the lifts to check for stability. There were no signs of severe pumping or rutting present. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor.

The contractor continued building up the bank and roadway along Lots #4 and #5 in the detention pond. The contractor is actively trying to build this area up before the rainfall forecasted for this weekend. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor. It was recommended to remove any large organics from fill before compaction.

The contractor continued placing fill of approximately 8 to 12 inches in thickness on the approximate location of Lots #8 through #13 and #52 through #60. The lifts were compacted with a sheep-foot roller. ASEC watched as loaded dump trucks rolled across the lifts to check for stability. There were no signs of severe pumping or rutting present. The contractor will begin benching into the natural slope approximately every 2 ft x 2 ft. It was recommended to remove any large organics from fill before compaction. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor.
