Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our representative was on site to attend a meeting with Paulding County members and NWGP to discuss asphalt deficiencies and repairs for the east and west side deceleration lanes. Paulding County had issues with in-place topping mix stating that a traffic roller wasn’t used during the placement of the 12.5 topping mix and also stated that it appeared that a binder mix was placed instead of the required topping mix based on a gradation report and the appearance of minor surface cracking. Paulding County recommended to remove all 12.5 topping mix and replace with the contracted mix. Also, one section on Seven Hills Blvd near the exit lane from the site was recommended to be milled 9.5 inches and replaced with 8.0 inches of class B concrete and capped with 1.5 inch of 12.5 topping mix. The paving contractor was informed to notify ASEC for the time of repair placement.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
