Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Work continued at Pond 1, excavation operations continued to remove additional soil from the pond bottom. Fill placement activities were conducted for Lots #85 through 96 with soil placed in controlled lifts approximately 6 to 8 inches in thickness. Each lift was spread using a dozer, moisture conditioned as required and compacted using padfoot roller.

Based on weather forecasts indicating rainfall prior to the next working day, the contractor elected to temporarily suspend final lift preparation. The crew indicated that the lifts would be reworked and recompacted on the next working day following the rain event.

In addition, grass and topsoil were removed from areas designated for fill placement.
