Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue excavation for the detention pond placing fill at building Lots #56 through #63. The fill was placed in compacted lifts and density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. During pond excavation the contractor was reminded of the OCS not being in place with recommendations made to install the outlet pipe to excavate on slopes at 2:1 benching into existing sides. Also replace existing sandy silt soils with onsite clay base soil materials for the pipe backfill. Compact backfill to 95% and top two feet to 98% with observation from ASEC.

The pipe contractor also continued excavation and backfill the 8″ sanitary sewer line between structures #D12 and D13.  Also continued to observe the hammering of rock between D12 and D18.  A total time of 3 hours was spent during hammering operations.

The curbing contractor continued and completed installation of single wing and double wing curb inlet throats at Unit 4 Phase 1A. The writer observed reinforcing, dimensions, and clearance and thickness depths which appeared to be in compliance with job specifications. The contractor poured a 3000 psi concrete mix. All pictures during construction were forwarded to the county official Mr. Mike Keener.

The paving contractor NWGP was on site today at both locations for Unit 4 Parkway Phase 1 where our representative observed existing subbase elevations and the clipping off of surface-stained silt off in-place base stone between sanitary sewer manhole structures #5 and 9.

The Paving contractor also continued subbase stone placement for the Seven Hills new Roundabout location.
