Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The grading crew continued placement of fill along the slope near retaining wall #3 to retaining wall #4. The contractor is placing fill in approximate 1 foot lifts and compacting using a vibrating sheep-foot roller. The contractor removed topsoil from the approximate location of Lots #44, #96, and #97. Topsoil was stockpiled to be used in greenspace areas on a later date. A proof-roll was performed in this area with a loaded off-road dump truck. There did not appear to be any severe pumping present. This is a deep fill area, consisting of approximately 25 to 30 feet of fill in the lowest point. The contractor placed large boulders (that were removed from structural fill and stockpiled) in the lowest point and spread a thickened lift of finer soils to help fill voids. The contractor spread the lift with a dozer and then began placing structural fill.

The pipe crew is installing storm line in greenspace along back of curb near Lot #20.

The wall crew continued installation of retaining wall #5. The contractor’s equipment has been breaking down and has caused the pace to slow. The grading crew has been helping the installation of the wall. Density testing was performed, and test results were provided to the contractor.
