Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor placing fill at both locations of building Lots #32 through 34 and #56 through 62. The writer performed density tests using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Also observed rock fill placement at building lots that was compacted in suitable lifts. The rock fill was observed at elevations -12 feet at Lot #32, -7 feet at Lot #33 and -6 feet at Lot #34. The density tests were performed at -10 feet Lot #32, -5 feet Lot #33, and -4 feet at Lot #34. Density tests were performed for Lots #56 through 62 at elevations 864 thru 867. It was recommended that the lighter weight silt soils being encountered be placed in loose lifts not exceeding 12″ compacted using an on-site sheep-foot roller and every other lift be compacted using a loaded off-road dump truck to assist in compacting these fine silt materials.
The pipe contractor continued installing 8″ ductile iron pipe (DIP) between sanitary sewer manholes #13 and 14 where heavy blast rock was still encountered and was being observed by another ASEC representative.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
