Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The grading contractor began filling on Lots #4 and #5. Soil lifts were placed in approximate 12 inches of thickness and compacted with a vibrating sheep-foot roller. Density testing was performed and test results were provided to the contractor. This area is within 4 to 5 feet of final grade. ASEC recommended to remove any large rocks from the fill being placed in this area.

The contractor began excavation of the retaining wall #2 footing. There appears to be a large amount of weathered rock present in the footing of this wall. The excavation took the better part of the day, so ASEC will be back out tomorrow morning to conduct DCP testing along the footing.

The pipe crew continued installation of sewer line SSMH 1.5 to SSMH 1.6 in the roadway. This area consisted of a large amount of weathered rock in the fill. ASEC used visual observation techniques to verify the compaction over the pipeline. ASEC observed the contractor place lifts of approximate 1.5 feet to 2 feet in size (based of rock size) and then compact with a combination of a sheep-foot roller and a trench roller. This area appears to be compacted and stable.

The wall crew was not present on site today.
