Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The contractor is continuing the placement of structural fill on Lots #4 and #5. These lots are within the final 2 feet of finished grade and will be density tested once final grade is achieved.
ASEC performed DCP testing on the footing of retaining wall #2. Tests were performed approximately every 50 feet. Refusals were hit between 1 foot to 2 foot on every test due to large amounts of weathered rock in this area. It was recommended to excavate approximately 1 foot in depth from station numbers 0+25 to 0+75 and from 1+25 to 2+25. It was recommended to replace the excavation with approximately 6 inches of No. 57 stone followed by 6 inches of graded aggregate base. The contractor should have the material on site on Monday to complete this task and have the footing ready for the wall crew to begin construction of retaining wall #2.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
