Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
The crew began earthwork operations between Lots #39 and 40. During grading activities at Lot #39, areas of soft and unstable soils were encountered. The contractor excavated approximately 4 to 5 feet of saturated sandy silt materials to reach stable subgrade conditions. After removal, a thickened lift consisting of red sand mixed with clay was placed in lifts approximately 12 to 18 inches thick to provide a suitable subgrade level to compact on. Each bridge lift was spread and compacted using a crawler dozer and a sheep-foot roller.
Following stabilization, additional fill material was placed in lifts of approximately 6 to 8 inches throughout the lot areas. Each lift was evenly spread and compacted using the crawler dozer and sheep-foot roller.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
