Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.

The grading crew removed topsoil from the slope and partial pads of Lots #30 through #32. A proof-roll was performed, and any pumping was shown to the contractor. In areas where the fill is greater than 10 feet, the contractor placed an approximate 2-foot thickened lift of rock mixed with a layer of finer soil. The contractor then began to place approximate 8-to-12-inch lifts of fill and compacted the lifts with a sheep-foot roller. ASEC watched as loaded trucks rolled across the lifts to check for stability. There were no signs of severe pumping or deflection present at this time.

The wall crew continued the installation of retaining wall #2. The soil lifts were installed in 8-to-12-inch lifts and compacted with a vibrating sheep-foot roller. Density testing was performed and test results were provided to the contractor.
