Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor continue to break up rock using a single tooth ripper attached to a Cat 349 excavator. The contractor spent five (5) hours using the ripper to break up rock today. The contractor loaded broken rock using two excavators and placed rock at building Lots #63 through 66 in compacted lifts using two vibratory sheep-foot rollers and a loaded off-road dump truck. Compacting efforts appeared suitable for rock fill placement. The contractor was reminded of recommendations made to keep all rock fill 4 feet below subgrade/bottom of footing elevation and the top two feet of fill compacted to 98% or higher.  The area will be proof-rolled when finished grade is achieved.

The pipe contractor continued to backfill an 8″ sanitary sewer line between manholes #9 and 9.1. Compacting efforts appeared to be suitable for job specifications and will be tested and proof-rolled during final sub grade prep.

The water line contractor continued installing and backfilling 12″ ductile iron water line at Nature Walk parkway between manholes # 5 and 6.

The erosion control contractor (Valor) was on site and continued seeding and placing mat blankets on embankment slopes at the detention pond OCS.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
