Observations/Finding
On the above date the writer was onsite as requested and observed proof rolling on sub grade base stone after repairs was supposably completed.The writer observed the east, west lane addition using a loaded tandem dump truck making two passes over all areas.The proofroll at the added lane appeared stable under traffic and was approved for additional base stone placement.Also the deceleration lane and drive entrance was observed which four isolated were observed to have moderate to severe movement under traffic with previous recommendations made that was followed.At east half decel lane it was recommended to remove in place base stone and undercut saturated in place sub grade soils and replace with additional base stone.The contractor attempted to air dry the saturated sub grade soils which did not work also alone curb line at drive exit lane.The areas listed below was marked with paint and recommended for repair.
1.11’x8′ -right side of entrance drive
2.13’x11’=right side at exit turn
3.4’x 40′ -along curb line at exit drive
4.70’x 12′ – east half of decel. lane
