Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day
Crew continued backfilling operations in Lots #17, 18, 49, 50, 51, 52, and 53. The backfill material was placed in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches thickness and spread evenly using a crawler bulldozer. Each lift was compacted using both a sheep-foot roller and a Caterpillar 815 compactor. The work was carried out systematically across all lots.
In the neighboring Buford area, the crew continued trench and pipeline-related activities. Backfilling was carried out with graded aggregate base (GAB) for the top portion, ranging from approximately 8 inches to a 2 ft depth over the first 20-ft lineal section. For the next 20 feet, a combination of gravel and soil was used for backfilling. The placed materials were compacted using a jumping jack compactor within the trench. Simultaneously, excavation of the trench continued using a hydraulic excavator equipped with a rock grinder attachment to break and remove rock, progressing as required for ongoing installation work.
