Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Crew continued earthwork operations in Lots #49, 50, 51, 52 and 53. Backfill material was placed in lifts of approximately 6–8 inches thickness and spread evenly using a crawler bulldozer. Each lift was compacted using both a sheep-foot roller and a Caterpillar 815 compactor. Compaction testing was performed and results reported to the contractor.

At the retaining wall location, the crew began installing the formwork for the wall. Formwork panels were positioned along the wall alignment and secured in place using bracing and supports.

In the Buford area, the crew continued backfilling operations by placing soil in lifts and compacting.  After completing the backfilling, the crew proceeded with further trench excavation using a hydraulic excavator equipped with a rock grinder attachment to break and remove rock, allowing excavation to continue to the required depth and alignment.
