Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor continue subgrade and subbase preparation at Nature Walk Parkway. The contractor continued placing base stone over stabilization fabric between sanitary sewer manholes #5 and 4. This area was also observed with the Paulding County official Mr. Kenner. Our representative observed proof-rolling of subgrade soils between sanitary sewer manholes #9 and 10 using a loaded tandem dump truck with 18.10 tons of base stone making two passes over all areas. The proof-roll indicated slight movement over most areas which was considered scabbing (horizontal deflection of the fine, light weight silty soils). It was recommended to clip most areas -4″ with one isolated small area to clip -8″ and replace all areas with additional base stone. The recommended areas will average 12″ of base stone to be verified during clipping process approximately (330′ x 40′) and observed.

The pipe contractor continued installing 36″CMP storm line between A3 and A4 at unit 4 phase 3. The contractor continued hauling stockpiled excavated rock from Nature Walk Parkway between sanitary sewer manholes #10 and 11. This material was placed at unit 4 phase 3 in compacted lifts. Placement today was observed at elevation 914 in compacted lifts suitable for rockfill.

The blasting contractor made a blast shot on today at unit 4 phase 2 roadway.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
