Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill.
DCP testing was performed on the footing exposed for retaining wall 1 (under the temporary pond). Test results were found to not meet job specifications for soil bearing pressures, and it was recommended to excavate approximately 2 feet of soft soils followed by the placement of geogrid in the footing and approximately 1.5 feet of No. 57 stone with a 6-inch GAB cap. The contractors are ordering rock, but due to the holidays the quarry is shutdown.
The pipe crew is excavating SSMH 5.2 to 5.3. They have hit a hard rock and are unable to excavate it out with the excavators. They asked for a rock quantification in this area to submit to Pulte. Three (3) test pits were excavated, and the quantification was approximately 352.1 cubic yards of rock. (150ft x 4ft x 10ft) + (50ft x 10ft x 10ft). The contractors are bringing out a chipping hammer to try to bust apart the rock.
The contractors are rain prepping the site after lunch and shutting down early for Good Friday.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
