Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (NG Grading) and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. The grading crew continued to assist the wall crew with the installation of retaining wall 1. The contractors spread soil lifts approximately 8 to 12 inches thick across the wall and compacted the lifts with a vibrating sheep-foot roller. Density testing was performed and test results were provided to the contractor.
The grading crew is placing lifts of blasted rock (approximately 12 to 18 inches thick) across the temporary pond located above retaining wall 1. The contractor is spreading the blasted rock and then placing a lift of finer material over the rock to help fill voids during compaction. The contractor is compacting the lifts with an 815 sheep-foot roller.
The stockpiled soil at the front of the site is being excavated and hauled off site.
We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
