Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the pipe contractor continue backfilling at the detention pond OCS. The writer observed backfill by visually inspecting placement and testing using a rounded end steel rod. The compacting efforts were suitable for jog specifications for 95% compaction. The excavated backfill soils were replaced with suitable drier materials or mixed with some of the excavated wet materials and placed in 8″ to 10″ loose lifts and compacted with three different types of rollers (walk behind vibratory sheet foot, hand tamp, and a Bomag five-ton sheet foot vibrator roller). The hand tamp was used to compact around the anti-seep collars. Also, some of the excavated wet organic materials were placed at the back side of dam embankment and compacted.

The pipe contractor performing horizontal boring for the water line tap in at Seven Hills Boulevard encountered hard granite rock during directional drilling today.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
