Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe backfilling of the sanitary sewer line between manholes #Z15 and Z16 and perform density testing. The contractor had completed the backfill over the weekend. The writer performed density tests within the top two feet using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. The compaction results failed to meet the required specification of 98%. The recommendations made were to clip off the top foot and recompact at that elevation for 98% requirement followed by the replacement of the top one foot and re-compact to 98%. Also, the backfill will be reobserved during final subgrade proof-roll to determine if further repairs are required.

The writer also observed the OCS for completion. The contractor is waiting on No. 34 stone to complete the required specifications.
