Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Area 1:
Proof-rolled in day shift, crew placed a 6-inch layer of GAB and compacted using trench compactor and smooth drum roller. Density tests were performed and met the required compaction.

Area 2:
Sheet piles were cut approximately 2 feet below grade. Work continued with placement of M10 material as backfill. The material was compacted using a sheep-foot roller. Density tests were performed and initially did not meet the required compaction. Additional compaction was performed, and after re-testing, it met required compaction. Final grade was then compacted using a smooth drum roller, and performed density tests it met the required compaction.

Area 3:
Straps were removed, and waterproofing activities were performed.

Area 4:
Sheet piles were marked approximately 2 feet below grade.

Area 5:
Compaction activities were performed. Density tests were performed and did not meet the required compaction. It was recommended to add water and continue re-compacting.

Area 6:
Waterproofing activities were completed.
