Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor (CWM) and for the observation/testing of the placement of asphalt. ASEC met with Shawn Cyr of CWM, Anthony Holt of CWM, Josh York of CWM, and Anthony Esspeedo of Lead Edge to discuss the cracking that has been present during the last two days of paving. CWM decided to attempt to heat the cracks with a torch and reroll these areas with a smooth drum roller to seal the cracks. This appeared to help but not completely fix the issue. An adjustment to the roll pattern was made to try to reduce cracking as much as possible. Lead Edge decided to continue forward with paving due to passing density results, even though the cracking was present.

The contractors milled between Hangars D and E. This area was paved and ASEC spot checked density tests during paving to verify the contractors were properly compacting this area. The contractors also paved two lanes in the parking space located by Hangar L. The roll pattern for the rubber tire roller was increase and appeared to help seal the cracks.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
