Daily Field Report
Observations/Finding
As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.
Crew continued backfilling operations between manholes A12-B18 by placing additional lifts of suitable fill material along the trench alignment. Compaction activities around the manholes and other confined areas were performed using a trench compactor. In wider accessible areas, the crew utilized a mini sheep foot roller and a larger sheep-foot roller to compact the placed materials. Fill material was placed in lifts and compacted.
At the bridge wall area, no construction activities were performed due to wet site conditions, which prevented placement and compaction of fill material. Fill placement operations are anticipated to resume on this coming Wednesday or Thursday once the ground conditions become suitable for fill placement activities. On the opposite side of the bridge, the crew continued working on footing construction by installing reinforcing steel bars in preparation for the upcoming concrete placement activities.
