Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the wall contractor continue backfilling at northside abutment. The contractor placed fill from the onsite stockpile which was observed during placement and density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Compaction results failed to meet requirements due to high in-situ moisture contents. It was recommended to seek off site drier materials possibly to mix with the onsite wet materials. The contractor located drier materials and plans to haul them in on Monday.
