Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the wall contractor continue backfilling for the north side bridge abutment using hauled in materials. The soil materials were compacted in suitable lift thicknesses and density tests were performed using a Troxler Nuclear gauge model 3430, serial no. 91643. Compaction results were found to be suitable as per job specifications. The writer also observed undercutting for the crane pad removing wet organic materials to suitable stable materials. The contractor began backfilling undercut areas until a light rain event occurred. Remaining fill shall be observed after the rain event.

The writer observed proof-rolling of subbase stone at Nature Walk Boulevard between sanitary sewer manholes #5 and #10 and drives to Phase 1A and 1B using a loaded tandem dump truck loaded with 18.36 tons. The subbase appeared stable with no apparent movement under traffic and was suitable for asphalt paving. The proof-roll was also observed by Mr. Mike Kenner with Paulding County, and David with NWGP. Note that if severe rain occurs prior to paving it’s recommended to reobserve these subbase materials.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
