Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials
submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Our ASEC representative was on site to observe the contractor and for the observation/testing of the placement of fill/backfill. ASEC visually inspected test pits that the contractor excavated around the site. It appears that there is approximately 1 to 2 feet of wet soils consistently around the site. As the test pits were excavated, approximately 2 feet deep, ground water started to seep into the excavations. There is a high probability that this ground water is going to be present around the site. It was recommended to the contractor to have surge stone present onsite before beginning to remediate these areas. For the time being, the contractor is stripping topsoil and focusing on water control before the rainstorms that are forecasted for the weekend. ASEC took a grab sample of the soil on site, as well as a grab sample from the area that the contractor plans to haul backfill material from (borrow). These samples were delivered to the lab to have moisture-density relationships (proctors) performed. ASEC asked that the contractor inform us when they plan to begin placing fill.
