Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services. Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

Proof-Roll Observation Report – Haley’s Bluff Development

A request was made to perform a proof-roll inspection of the future roadways within the Haley’s Bluff Development.

Upon arrival, representatives from the grading contractor, paving contractor, and the owner were present. A loaded tandem dump truck was utilized to proof-roll all proposed roadways and one parking lot area.

During the inspection, fifteen (15) locations exhibiting minor deficiencies associated with the previous day’s rainfall event were identified. The following areas were observed and subsequently scarified to facilitate moisture reduction:

1. Future intersection of Haley Farm Drive – Sta. 2+50 to 3+20
2. Haley Farm Drive – Sta. 20+20 to 21+50
3. Haley Farm Drive – Sta. 23+00 to 24+00
4. Haley Farm Drive and Cottage Court intersection – Sta. 20+00 to 30+00
5. Cottage Drive – Sta. 7+20 to 7+41
6. Cottage Drive – Sta. 8+22 to 12+81
7. Catch basin area between Lots 39 and 40
8. Entire roadway section adjacent to Lots 34–37
9. Entire roadway section adjacent to Lots 22–23
10. Catch basin area on the west side of Lots 20–21
11. Haley Farm Drive and Cottage Court – Sta. 0+00 to 0+83
12. West side of roadway adjacent to Lot 8
13. Butterfly Lane – Sta. 4+25 to 5+00 (entire roadway section)
14. Butterfly Lane – Sta. 4+00 to 4+30 (east side of roadway)
15. Butterfly Lane – Sta. 0+90 to 1+10 (west side of roadway)

All parties present were in agreement regarding the identified areas and the corrective action required. It was observed that all noted locations had been scarified to reduce moisture content and promote drying. At the time of departure, recompaction activities had not yet been completed.  Once aerated, surficial subgrade soils will be recompacted prior to GAB placement.

No further observations were made.
