Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the paving contractor placing 25mm base asphalt mix for the deceleration lane and roadway to the building lots radius entrance and also placed 19mm binder asphalt mix over base mix. The writer performed temperature checks and density checks on the asphalt mix placement. Density checks on 25mm base mix were observed to be 155.1, 157.0, 151.8, 149.0 and 156.8 (all pcf). There was no theoretical value available to compare for compaction results. Density checks appear to be suitable for compaction efforts of 92%.

The writer observed in place fill for the roadway for gas line crossing. The fill continued to be brought in wet with moderate to severe movement under traffic with recommendations made to mix M10 sand for drying purposes to stabilize in-place fill.

The blasting contractor also continued drilling for the detention pond.

The writer observed the grading contractor placing additional fill for building Lots #61 and 62 at unit 4 phase 2. The fill placement was placed in accordance with site specifications and density tests will be performed tomorrow.

The writer also observed the wall contractor installing reinforcement steel for the dead man footing for the west side bridge abutment.
