Observations/Finding

As requested, the site was visited by our AS Engineering and Consulting (ASEC) representative for the purpose of providing quality control inspection and testing services.  Visual observation techniques were employed to verify compliance with project drawing/specifications, applicable codes, and materials submittals. The following observations were observed on site this day.

On the above date our representative was on site to observe the grading contractor Thompson continue placing fill for the roadway over the Plantation gas line mixing in M10 sand to stabilize in place wet fill soils as recommended. The contractor used five loads of M10 sand to stabilize previous placed wet soils. The remaining fill soils used for the left side of roadway fill was taken from building lot cut areas. The right side of the roadway was close to subgrade with wet soils in place which was recommended to undercut -2′ and replace with GAB to stabilize over the gas line. The contractor undercut the recommended area and placed two loads of GAB which will require additional loads tomorrow to complete repair when traffic is permitted on asphalt being placed currently. The fill placement today was compacted using a vibratory sheep-foot roller in the static mode (without vibration) and using an off road rubbered tired dump truck. The compacting efforts were observed by probing using a rounded end steel rod which appeared suitable for at least 95% compaction.

The writer also monitored the paving contractor (J&W) placing approximately 126 tons of 19mm binder mix for the roadway to the building lots and Kiosk parking. Tack coat was observed in place at curbing.

The blasting contractor also continued drilling for the detention pond.

We appreciate the opportunity to be of service to you on this project. If you have any questions regarding this report, please feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to discuss it with you.
